downloadsfirmwaretotheBitporterpod;theseconddriverconnectstothepodfor
JTAGoperations.
Ifnotpromptedtoinstallthesedriversthe
firsttimetheBitporterisconnectedtoa
USBport,unplugtheUSBcable,thenrebootthehostPC.Oncethesystemhas
rebooted,plugintheUSBcableagain—atthispointdriverinstallationshouldbegin.
Note: Duringthedriverinstallation,theBitporterpod’sPOWERLEDturnsonand
the
COMMLEDmayflash.Oncedriverinstallationcompletessuccessfully,thePOWERLED
remainslit,andtheCOMMLEDturnsoff.

5. ConnecttheUSBcabletotheBitporter.
Note: Duringthepodinitialization,theBitporterpod’spowerLEDturnsonandtheCOMM
LEDmayflash.
Oncepodinitializationcompletessuccessfully,thepowerLEDremainslit,
andtheCOMMLEDturnsoff.

Connecting the Bitporter Pod via Ethernet (Windows and Linux)
TheBitporterpodsupportsEthernetconnectivitytooneormorePCs,supportingbothstatic
anddynamic(viaDHCP)IPaddressing.BeforeattemptingEthernetconnectiontoaBitporter
pod,pleaseconsultthenetworkadministratortoensurethat:
•The Bitporter pod is allowed to connect to the necessary network. If the Bitporter
pod’sMACaddress
isneeded,see“BitporterPodMACAddresses,”onpage 36.
•IfusingdynamicIP/DHCP:verifyaDHCPservercoversthenetworksegmentonto
whichthepodwillbeattached.
•If using static IP: consult with the system administrator to determine the static IP
addressingsettingstobeexplicitlyassignedtothe
pod.TheBitporterpodwillneedto
beconfiguredwiththesesettingsviatheUSBinterface(see“ConfiguringthePodto
UseaStatic IPAddress(‐isOption),”onpage 38) before itcanbeconnectedtothe
Ethernetnetwork.
•Ifconnectingthroughafirewall:theBitportercommunicatesonTCPport27000.
Optional:
thepodalsorespondstoUDPbroadcastsonport27001duringpodautode‐
tection, but this only works when the host and pod are within the same network
segment,whichisrarelythecasewhencommunicatingthroughafirewall.
